The creator of Ranma, UY, Lum, and Inu Yasha; Rumiko Takahashi, how is her name pronounced? like the phonetic "Ruumeekoh" or literal "Rumeckoh"... if you understand what i'm saying and have ever heard her name spoken, tell me please... its going to be in my new video...

In Osaka? Or in Tokyo? There could be a big difference.Dannywilson wrote:The creator of Ranma, UY, Lum, and Inu Yasha; Rumiko Takahashi, how is her name pronounced? like the phonetic "Ruumeekoh" or literal "Rumeckoh"... if you understand what i'm saying and have ever heard her name spoken, tell me please... its going to be in my new video...
Although 'i' is pronounced "ee" by itself, it is usually crushed in a syllable, so probably your second pronunciation is closer. And I don't think the 'r' would be pronounced the English way. More like a clipped 'd'.
The Japanese experts here can tell you more than I can.

Thanks dude. Its been 3 years since I took Nihongo and I know the general ideas and pronunciations still, but names always seem to foul me up. Sometimes its the difference between Angie and Anjie (yes, I had two friends with those names in high school, and each was pronounced differently, even though phonetically they should be the same), that makes or breaks things.
