) .. and they had a BIG g gundam list with pictures where they showed you all of the gundams...
DAMN!!!!! i was dead laughing at how UGLY those things were!
what kinda crackhead character pilots windmills, big bull heads, and cobras! the colors didn't match whatsoever (and i mena blue and brown, purple with yellow and grey). Plus i mean their names were so lame and frickin stupid! the canadian gundam was called the lumberjack gundam. They even had a gundam from mexico called the tequila gundam, for gods sake that was a waste of pages in that magazine!
Well to clarify on some of those statments
a) Nether Gundam's pilot is never seen ergo his drug usage can't be determined
The Matador Gundam's pilot seems pretty sober for what little screen time he gets
and the Cobra Gundam's pilot also seems sober (although he looks quite anemic)
As for the names (and in part this also explains the designs)...well, let's face it, the nation of Japan as a whole isn't as familiar with other culture, so for audiences to recognize the nationalities the creators fell back on stereotypes (hence such creations as Tequila and Lumber Gundam)...
Fun fact: Actually, the mech designs weren't the creator's original idea...he wanted to make an entirely different show, the studio heads rejected it, dropped a bunch of weird-ass Gundam designs down and prettymuch told him "Make us a show with these"...all things considered, I'd say he handled it pretty well...
