hmm, I just bought last exile seasons one and two on ebay ( as a christmas present) and, right after I hit confirm I got this horrible feeling that it might be a bootleg. That feeling's gotten much stronger after viewing some of his other items up for sell.( Azumanga Dai-Oh seems quite obvious.) what do you guys think of this...

well, here's the legit version of that: http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827 ... 39/4/153/0

So I'm willing to venture a guess that yes the $20 complete box set which should be selling for about $100 is a bootleg

They're shipping through the U.S. postal service, so they're committing felony mail fraud - let them know you'll alert the authorities if they don't cancel the auction. Alert ebay to their auctions as well.

I bought The Perfect Collection edition of Gravitation. Is that bootleg? It was cheap, and it has some of the other hallmarks of bootleg... But I really just can't tell. FWIW, I believe I have seen The Perfect Collection editions on sale in BestBuy, but I can't recall exactly. I'll have to look at their shelves.

I know that some companies are putting out special edition series of older/favorite series, so it's kind of a fuzzy grey area.

Bitrates are lower (down from about 5k to about 2.5), and the number of disks is lower (2 instead of 4): though I have to admit that I never thought Gravitation really REQUIRED 4 disks, but... that's IMHO.

The other main difference is the PAR is 0.889 instead of 0.991, or whatever the original was.

Purchased from a****b***z.com.

Menus in English, though it does have English, Chinese, Spanish as language options. All region.

<gulp>

But... but...

Damn.

I hope not. I dunno, I'll have to look at it some more. but I bet you're right. :/

The good news is that I still have my legit Fruits Basket and Noir to watch, so... One simply dislikes being taken in. At least I know what/where not to buy next time.

Don't worry; a similar event happened to me a while back. It's irritating, but it's not the end of the world.
