You're right, Klinky.

If you want a great example of this love they have with English read the book
Hokkaido Highway Blues: Hitchhiking Japan By Will Ferguson.
A damn funny book and a good look at the Japanese society and mindset.

I gotta buy that someday......

They also speek some English in Gravitation. The persons name is K. So I think it is that they find it cool. I think it is cool when they put other sayings in are movies even though it dosn't happen a lot.
I say Baka and kwai all the time now, it makes things fun

What sort of fans are you that can't even spell the romanjinized Japanese words correctly? :D

sayonara means goodbye.

kawaii means cute, if it's directed at someone it'll usually be preceded by the possesive 'wa' (i.e. neko wa kawaii)

baka usually is used to call someone stupid/dummy/jerk/jackass.

As for the rest, 'sore wa himitsu desu.' *Xellos finger-wave*

Well, so it's just to sound "cool"? How... dissapointing. It's not some plot to take over the world. :o

Ah well, thanks for the input ^_^

In some shows, people speak the language of their nation.

In Excel Saga, you have US Troops speaking English

In Evangelion, when the EVA unit is flown in from America, you hear English voices giving commands...
and Asuka has a few scenes where she speaks in Japanese.

Now...

The first thing to think about is an American movie. Have you EVER seen a movie where Russians speak Russian or Japanese speak Japanese or Germans speak German?

This happens in plenty of movies...

the Main Characters speak English... and certain background character speak in their native tongue.

It shouldn't seem strange in Japanese films that they would do the same.

However... America has a HUGE ego.

Think of this - The Japanese have made many anime titles where there are NO JAPANESE characters in the show. True, they all speak in Japanese so that the audience can understand it.

Gunsmith Cats is in Chicago - Neither Rally or Minnie May is Japanese.

Kiki's Delivery Service is all in some unnamed European land - None of the characters are Japanese.

Can you imagine if Hollywood made a movie with no Americans in it?

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

Oooh, let me start!! It's like a game. :D

Schindler's List.

Anything adapted semi-faithfully from Shakespeare (Midsummer Night's Dream, Much Ado About Nothing).

*passes the conch to the right*

(You didn't SERIOUSLY believe that NO Hollywood movies were made in another period or place, did you? Biased, are we?)
