Here's a question: Will we be going more by the official rules, or more by the anime's rules? There are a lot of differences. The anime's rules would allow for more inventiveness, but could get out of hand. The games rules would be more controlled, but not everyone would find that a good thing.
For instance: would we follow the games "Tribute" rule, which limits the ability to get out high-level monsters, or ignore it like they do in the show? I would be playing for fun, so I think fewer rules would be better, but that's just me.
Here's one other thing: We can't just plow through, so what about this:
Players take turns responding to each event. E.G. "I attack your X with my Y", then wait for the opponent to say, "I activate such and such", then back to the first player to react to that until they're both finished.
Perhaps a referee could be in order to keep the turns and such sorted out... or am I just getting bogged down in unnessesary things?
"Dojo! What is Rule One?"
"Do not act incautiously when confronting little bald wrinkly smiling men!"
