(more than two words => no translation)

je parles fracais a peu. ::wince::

anyway, yes, "noir" means black. but all these different pronouncations are a bit confusing.

noir is usually pronounced "nwa" while you hold your nose and say the word fast. then there's the fobbish american pronounciation where you say "nowar" by just saying the word fast. all those hyphens people were putting up there made it seem like the word was two syllables when its actually just one.

Yep was talking bout the proper pronounciation, not the fastest one.

proper : nwar -or- noar (R like in german and A like in "ah");
fastest : drop the R as prius said.

yeah i know you were talkin bout the pronouncation. but then reading the way people were describing the word "noir" made it seem like the word was pronounced slow or with two syllables. and since we can't really just call him up say "this is how you prounounce noir..." i thought it would have helped if i described how to say it so that it'd help when he tried it out on his own. we could always say, "this is how the pronouciation looks like for noir..." but he could always be saying something different when it comes down to it.
