I think the pronounciation of Noir is "new-ar".

I pronounce it something like "New-ar". Noir is indeed a French word, like Hakura said.

Well, the way I think to pronounce Noir is the same way to pronounce the name of the band GWAR. So, it would be phonetically Nwar.

It is actually pronounced "no-ar" as Hakura said. Except that you have to make the "r" more agressive, like in german.
K keep saying "new-ar", easier for you, huh 8)?

Years of forgotten french say Rozard is the closest.

"Nwaar!" is the crude version for you, 'zard's version is more gramatically correct.

When something is in an anime and its not actually japanese, i usually just pronounce it the way the seiyuus do, even though it may not be correct, it sort of is when refering to the anime

It should be 'Nwar' as has been stated by others on this post.

In my film classes, we studdied film-noir and that was how it was pronounced. It is the accepted pronounciation in the US to my knowledge.

You guys sound like you're having trouble. I don't have trouble pronouncing Noir, but that's because I've taken most of my classes for the past 11 years in french. Speak English at home, French during class. I may speak it, but I'm not as fluent as someone that that was their first language. And if you're wondering, I easily do essays and stuff like that in French or English, not that essays are easy of course  . I was born in Montreal, Québec after all.

So after I've trailed off for about 100km, back to Noir. It's hard to type something how it is supposed to be pronounced. I bet that most of you guys are trying to say the same thing, but just think of different spelling for the word. You'll just have to learn from someone in person, it would be so much easier. But all of you are as close as you can get.
