Looking for best 2012-2014 stuff
Gimme the best 5-10 titles of past years.
No titans, no kill a kill.
No titans, no kill a kill.
I love my women like I love my AMV - furious low skilled action without any sync and technique.

Re: Looking for best 2012-2014 stuff
well, since you killed the two best series right off the bat heh
in no particular order:
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Very cool fighting series, Fist of the north star is probably the closest comparison).
Kuroko no Basket: Sports anime on basket ball, I don't like watching/playing basket ball in RL but I loved this series
Log Horizon: People living in a MMO type world, much better than Sword Arts Online IMO
Magi: Long series with various characters from arabian knights, although it has absolutely nothing to do with the source material, great shounen series
Fate/Zero: prequel to fate/stay night, beautifully animated with great characters and action, magical combat between summoners and their servants who are heroes from history
Valrave the liberator (2 series): a mecha anime, but a very good one, although it does have a lot of human drama in it as most mecha anime do, but probably the best of its kind in the last several years
Accel World: Cool Virtual Reality Fighting series, you just have to get past the main character being an complete limp noodle for the first part of the anime
The Devil is a Part Timer: A very funny comedy about a demon lord who get stuck in the human world and has to survive as a human
Tried to cover just about every genre out there, and all those series are finished (or at least have finished their current season)

Re: Looking for best 2012-2014 stuff
should have mentioned it was for your girl, I would have mentioned more rom/coms
If she's looking for a romance series I recommend inuzuka no kiss, probably one of the only romance series that I genuinely enjoyed the whole way through. Starts with a girl falling for a cold guy in highschool and pretty much follows their story all the way through their adult lives, has a lot of comedy as well

We are obviously going to watch it together. And If I don't like it - we are not watching it at all.

I said it was a good series, one that I enjoyed and I normally don't enjoy romance series, I recommended it because it could be enjoyed by both of you

Re: Looking for best 2012-2014 stuff
Flowers of Evil-This thing is amazing and mind blowing, but is also an acquired taste. You'll only really like this if the animations style doesn't put you off, and if you can deal with really slow stuff (the best primer I can give is that half of episode 8 is two characters walking home together, with no dialogue). If those things don't bother you, this is fucking incredible, and is one of the most unique and compelling drama anime ever made, that also functions as a low level satire of anime romantic comedies.
WataMote-This maybe isn't the greatest title to watch for fun, but it's good nonetheless. Whether or not you really attach to it depends entirely on whether you can relate to the main character, though.

Maybe you should ask your GF what kind of Animes she likes?
