Absolute devastation anime

Postby Êricō » Thu Jul 08, 2010 8:01 am

I am looking for an anime where there is a character or some sort of thing that has absolute power and near indestructible. Something like Age and Velcross from 'Heroic Age'. 'Heroic Age' was good in the way in how they managed to balance out the story even with the inclusion of an absolutely powerful being. Velcross had no weakness whatsoever, could never be defeated and not to mention had insanely destructive powers. So that is the type of thing I am looking for in an anime. I need this for inspiration in a project I am starting so any information regarding similar anime will be helpful.

The only one I can think of at the moment is Chise in Saishuheiki Kanojo (Saikano). I might be able to think of some more in a bit.

Can you describe the character if it isn't too much trouble?

I can't describe that aspect of her without spoilers. It's a pretty good series but it can be ruined fairly easily by spoilers.

Spoiler :
Chise is part of a government project to create the ultimate weapon or something. She gets more powerful and less able to control it as the series progresses, and by the last episode the world is basically destroyed by war, with her essence and destructive power being basically the only things remaining. The last episode is specifically what I was talking about before. Tried to keep spoilers to a minimum, even with the tags.

I have watched 'Code Geass' but what aspect of the anime are you referring to specifically. Everybody in the anime has a weakness and sure there are destructive moments like Fleija but not quite what I had in mind. Still, I guess that it does have its merits in terms of destruction but it probably doesn't have the scale. Correct me if I'm wrong on anything and thankyou for the suggestion.

Never thought about it even though I have both the movie and the series. It definitely does have destruction but in comparison to the scale of the entire universe (setting of 'Heroic Age') it is somewhat miniscule but definitley the destruction scenes are massive in their own rights. Thanks for the suggestion and I will probably need to review 'X' again.

I have heard this anime many times and I still haven't watched, (I probably will soon). If it isn't a problem can you describe why you suggested this anime since I haven't seen it yet.

I have seen the whole series of 'Casshern SINS' and sure the environment is destroyed and Casshern is certainly destructive and invincible but his powers is somewhat limited to his inability to die I believe. His actual combat prowess isn't really destructive. I will also need to check out 'Bleach' and thanks for your suggestions.

Because its home of all things manly.

In all seriousness, I will say it has even more devastation than Heroic Age. The progression of the show and main character was executed flawlessly until it got to the point of epically spanning across multiple galaxies within the universe, similar to heroic age. I probably can't put it better than tvtropes, "Thus begins a rollercoaster ride of Fanservice, over-the-top fight scenes between mecha, hot-bloodedness, epic sunglasses, massive Badassery, and mind-blowing heroism."

I've seen both Gurren Lagann and Heroic age, and I will say that they do rival each other in epicness. Loved them both and can't recommend Gurren Lagann enough!

Slayers. Specifically, the end of Slayers Next (comes after Slayers and before Slayers Try). The character I'm thinking of is the Lord of Nightmares.

***HUGE SPOILERS***
Spoiler :
One of the main Mazoku (monster/demon race), Phibrizzo, is trying to get Lina to cast the Gigaslave spell for the last part of the series in order to make it go out of control and return the world to pure chaos. He succeeds in forcing her to cast the spell, and it does go out of control, but what nobody realized is that the spell actually summons the Lord of Nightmares rather than just calling on its power. Lina is kinda possessed by it, her hair turns gold (in an awesome way, not overdone like DBZ), and when Phibrizzo attacks, the Lord of Nightmares destroys him. In Slayers canon, the Lord of Nightmares basically has ultimate power over everything. And yes, there is a TON of huge destruction across all three original Slayers series.

And as such, this is why I think this is EXACTLY what you're looking for.
