Anyone know how I can get h264 videos into Vegas 8?

Post by thundercleez » Sat Aug 29, 2009 4:38 pm

I have some videos in h264 and I am trying to import them into Vegas 8. Whenever I try to drag the clips onto the timeline my cursor changes into circle with a line through it and I can't do it. is there any way to get h264 videos into Vegas or does anyone know of a way to convert them without losing too much quality? I tried converting them into wmvs, but they look terrible after.

You'll have to convert them to lossless AVI with a codec like lagirith or HuffYUV. This'll let you edit, and there will be no quality loss, But the file sizes will be huge. So unless you have a massive hard drive you'll have to cut out segments to convert. To learn more about this and other methods, you should Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides Lovingly Overhauled Largely by Zarxrax. There is a section on editing unconventional footage.
