Sony Vegas 7.0 + Vista + MySQL error

Postby 76 » Fri Oct 03, 2008 5:21 pm

I installed Sony Vegas 7.0 on my laptop. The laptop is running Vista and the install showed a MySql compatibility issue when I installed the media manager, I ignored it and went ahead with the rest of the install.

Now I don't have video with the audio in the trimmer preview.

Help?

I was trying to preview an Avi video file in my videos folder. I can hear all the audio, but the video doesn't show.

(That response came from the side of me that isn't sure exactly what you mean.)

I guess I should get CCCP?

AVI is a container. Codecs are the stuff like DivX, XviD, Lagarith, etc. If you don't know what codec your video is, then download GSpot and drop the file in there. It'll tell you what codec it is.

Basically, though, you don't want to use XviD or DivX in an editing program, because they don't like to work for that. They're made for distribution and not editing. For more about distribution codecs vs. editable codecs, see this page from A&E's Technical Guides to All Things Audio and Video (BETA).

Thank you very much. Though I've read that rule(about xvid divx) so many times, it would seem that when it counts I have failed to remember it.

Everything checks out thanks to CCCP.
Even the Xvid plays in the preview. Vegas couldn't find the video codec.

vegas usually doesn't recognize xvid or divx, you are going to have to convert to lossless
