Help in Vegas Pro 8

Postby Gamergirl89 » Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:11 am

Ok, in this I was wondering how I could make moving bars (0:08-0:24)?
I think I should the cookie cutter, but I'm not totally sure.

Also, though this may be a dumb question, but is there a way to make stills in Vegas.
(something like at 1:43?) Everytime I want to do stills, I do them in wmm and then import to Vegas, though they look like crap.

Yeah, for the moving bars you can use cookie cutter and animate the position of the 'square' effect via keyframes. Or you could create masking shapes and move those around on the screen with the pan/crop feature.

To make stills in Vegas you just have to set the velocity of a clip to 0% (right-click > insert/remove envelop > velocity)? You can also change the speed of a clip in its properties, but I prefer the other method.

Alternatively, for the still, you can just click that little floppy disk looking icon on the top of the video preview window. That'll take a screenshot of the frame that you're on and put the resulting file in your project media tab. And it can save in nice, lossless PNG format, too. :D
??? yea ???

if you are going to screenshot anything make sure the preview screen is set to "full quality"

another way to make a still frame is to cut your video down to one frame and right click and choose "create subclip" and stretch it out as long as you want it.

Since what I'm asking is related to an effect used in the same video, I'll just post this here.

The flashing rectangular bars in the begining part how could I make them? Is it still cookie cutter ?

Like there is an error box but it's not showing up. It's not rendering with the audio at all. Hell it still happens when mute all audio is muted.

I have a fever!

I've not had any problems with using compressed audio in Vegas but is your audio an uncompressed wav or something else? try using an uncompressed wav and see if that fixes the problem of it not rendering the audio.

as for the error box sound, I've no clue what could be causing that.?? maybe try reinstalling the program?

Is it safe to ask WHO has SONY VEGAS plugins?

I mean, I know it's against most policies to ask FOR the plugins.?? But to ask WHO, has them.?? Should be fair enough, no?

I figured out what was wrong, I had turned on the metronome. I have since taken care of this slight annoyance.
