How to achieve this effect in Sony Vegas 7?

I'm pretty new to Sony Vegas (I'm good on the basics and can make a clean video without effect) but I have been having a little trouble switching from the simplified effects of Windows Movie maker to Sony Vegas.

Anyway, I was wondering how do you achieve the effects at the beginning of that video? How the cut away boxes slid across the screen, I know how to add the cookie cutter effect already, but I have no clue how to make them move so smoothely like that. Also, the scene at the begining where it looks like a cookie cutter effect but there is the rest of the background behind it and the cookie cut section is colored.

Sony Vegas is starting to frustrate me, haha, so if anyone knows any good tutorials for effects, that would really help too. I got the basics down, now I'm trying to learn effects.

Thanks a ton!

It's actually pretty simple. The person was just using key frames. So at the bottom those little rhombuses, you're just gonna move them. If you know how to motion mask then you know what I mean. If you need help ask to post a screen shot. For the colored part, it looks like the person just added HSL adjust, or that kind effect.

Wow, I feel dumb now, the key frames were hidden when I opened the cookie cutter window or any special effects window. Thanks for the help everyone :)

sometimes it's easier to just show it than it is to try to explain it with words..
Apologies if I stepped on your toes (I'm just used to handling a lot of these Vegas Questions...)

O.o

Not to mention I have a buttload of screen caps already on my site for Vegas.
