Vegas - Audio alignment

Postby post-it » Tue Jan 15, 2008 3:41 pm

.. Audio on the 5.1 surround will not line-up is the problem!

Front, Rear, LFE & Center are all the same lengths .. until you get ready to play them!

can this be done in Vegas Platinum?
1) Elastic Audio ( stretch/shrink the timing of a track ) ?
2) moving the entire track, at once, without the trimmer chopping the Audio ?
3) add a Timing beat ( visually ) so I can see the alignment [ to varify sound alignments ]

.. these may not seem like much of a problem unless your used to doing this in Magix Products and Vegas is fighting me because "its not Magix" ( it should be the same [ basically the same anyway ] and its not working T_T )

.. if I can get this to work in Vegas 8.0b Platinum, I'd be a happy camper .. cause everything else offered by Vegas is not that much different than Ulead 11 Plus & Magix Pro 12 MEP .. I must be doing something wrong for Vegas not to grasp Audio Realignments T_T but what am I missing here ???

THx 8-)

hmmm as to elastic audio im not sure, you split audio into sections and change the playback rate, or just crop off sections or w/e but not sure if thats what you're after

as to moving entire tracks, yes its easilly done, just click and drag =D

adding timing beat - you can add markers to the timeline (or as i found out recentlly thx purge) to the clips themselves in order to visual aids for you to work with

.. Elastic, like a rubber-band; stretching and/or shrinking the playback time while keeping
the Content ( more or less ) in one piece. [[ sometimes this changes the Pitch too. ]]
( sorta like Shrink/Stretch to fit kinda thing T_T words fail me on descriptions )

.. the entire track, click and drag .. doesn't seem to want to co-operate on my side.
is there a Shift key or something else that is being held-down while moving the Audio?

.. we are thinking the same thoughts, on the same methods, yet Mine is not co-operating!

.. strange!

select the first clip on your track, shift select the last clip on your track, drag.
if you wish to move multiple tracks left and right, eg track 1 + 2 + 3, grab first clip from track 1 and last clip from track 3, will select all in between.

as to changing the speeds of the audio, right click on your audio piece choose properties then where it says 'method' change that. you get a few options you can play around with. however i do most of my audio editing through audacity so im really not sure how the vegas one works
