Imported Video has Sound but No Video in Vegas

Postby Slywolf15 » Thu Jan 03, 2008 11:17 pm

Well I'm using Vegas 7 and a while ago I imported some files I converted to an avi container using the Mpeg-4 codec from rm. For some strange reason the files have sound although no video and this is only in vegas because when played, the files work fine. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

Excuse me, before you make assumptions I suggest you check your sources. I am not using Divx or Xvid if you must know. Even files I have used in the past aren't working correctly now.

But I have no idea what your problem is,you should try restarting your computer, uninstalling and reinstalling your program, have you updated any editing software,or made any resent changes,or uninstalled codecs, started working with different codecs, new program(s),etc.?

Do you post just to see yourself speak? Anyway, it seems to be a streaming problem I may be experiencing so for some reason it's not streaming the video at all. Also Dark, I'm a bit frustrated because I was meaning to start a project this evening although this problem has prevented me from doing so. It frustrates me to see irrelevant posts to my problem.

No. Although I do find it amusing.

Ahh I see. And I've had many problems before and posted my problems and people just pointed out I posted in the wrong forum,or pointing out a mistake that has nothing to do with my problem(when I was a noob here). So...your not the only one,Ir's pritty normal, and atleast I tried to also help me with your problem.

So, are the files encoded losslessly, or not?

To tell you the truth I don't think they are. Anyway I am looking at GSpot and it says for some stupid reason the codec I encoded it to is in fact divx. I must have accidentally clicked DX50 instead of the option under it without realizing it. Although I find it interesting that I file that has worked fine in vegas before now doesn't work properly either.

Yeah, most times when only audio appears on the timeline the file is either a divx/xvid codec, more divx then xvid, and by the way, that flashing banner I posted at the top is a link, click on it :)

Yes, I know that. Although like I said, a file I have used before in Vegas doesn't work now either. But yes I did make a mistake with the codec because I know better than to encode files into divx or xvid.

Did you convert the files using VirtualDubMod?

No, I converted them using the SUPER converter. Well I just re-encoded them as MJPEG's although Vegas still won't recognize the video. It just seems like it's rejecting anything that is using an avi container. Last night I uninstalled and reinstalled the program although that didn't help either.
