Vega Problem (Bought today)

Postby Zwill » Sun Nov 04, 2007 1:35 am

I went thought the guild up there but still couldnt get my problem solved.

Problem:

I have 2 series of raw versions and there all .avi types.

One series of subs works in vegas 8.0
Other series subs doesnt work (New release)

My 2 raw versions of each series wont work, reasons below.

They have wmv9 and divx in there wording. I can use the orignals for one series for subs but it will take time for me to edit them like in sticky. The new series has subs but its all divx and doesnt work in Vega 8.0.

Any suggest on how to do this? I have the vitual dub and Super program and cant figure out how to use either. I need someone to explain this or tell me how to do this in detail. l've been looking around for 10 hours trying to find a asnwer and none so far.

Kinda depressed since l bought this today to learn that it doesnt work when l spent $100 on it..

Any help is GREATLY appreated.

that glorious flashing banner is a link.

the recommended codec to use is lagarith. It's lossless, but that means that your files will be big. You won't want to re-encode entire episodes, instead you should just make small clips using virtualdub (or virtualdubmod)

I'll post again once I fish out Jaddziadax's picture

use those to mark the beginning and the end of the "clips" you want so you can save room

If l cant use raws then how do l get around the subtitles? I can use them in regular windows movie maker 2 now and l was never able to but the flash and fade and what you can do are limited.

I will try the dubmod now.

This is what l get when l open the first series of it:

Couldnt locate decomprressor format "wmv3" (Unknown.
VirtualDub requires a video for windwos (VFW_ compatitable codec to decompress video. Direct show codecs, such as those used by windows media player, are not suitbable. ONly "Direct stream copy" is available for this video.

I couldnt upload image because photobucket and imageshack are down for me.

The second series of Shakugan No shana works prefectly in the virtual dubs.

My whole Cardcaptor sakura collection of raws doesnt does not work or first season of Shakugan no shana.

to get around subtitles, you should use dvds (using raws and fansubs is highly discouraged)

you're missing a codec, or vdub just doesn't want to import wmv files (because of wmv being a proprietary format of microsoft's)
to get around this you could use avisynth (Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides, one of the parts deals with avisynth)

huffyuv and lagarith aren't codecs that come preloaded on your computer, you have to download and install them (a quick google)

Is it really that hard to do it? I cant buy dvds for one series so would l have to cut out subs?

I tried using avs editor and vegas and they both wont open my raws. Windows movie maker is the only thing opening them but that program is very limited..

So l would have to wait for full series to be out on dvd before trying this?

ignore the stuff about windows movie maker, but this is how you open a wvm9 encoded video file into virtualdub mod

and yea, you should be using your DVDs it's much easier to drop in a VOB file into Virtualdub Mod than it is to try to open wmv9 encoded avis

no, you'll still have to transcode them with a lossless codec for editing

mkay, I have a pretty big problem now, in vegas 8.0, every time I change the speed or velocity of a clip, it works fine in preview mode, but as soon as I render it, all clips that had their speeds changed turn jet black. any help?
