Vegas 7.0 question

Postby Lt. Cmdr. Samuels » Sat Nov 03, 2007 1:30 pm

Okay, im used to WMM and I know it sucks. So i upgraded to Vegas and I've been wanting to make some AMVs but I have a slight problem. I want the program to make clips like WMM and have it in a small table where i can drag it in. Instead it imports the entire episode as a single clip.

Yep, you're going to have to make the clips yourself. Vegas has no auto-clipping feature.

to speed up you may either use velocity or just edit footage properties.

Easier way : no.

No one mentioned that Vegas has a video trimmer to cut out clips in an easy way in the program itself. There you can cut out the clips you need from the episodes and place it in the timeline.

1 of my problems with the trimmer is that i need to highlight the sections. Also, final question.

If i record footage of like a torpedo. is it possible to have it move on the screen then dissapear at a certain point? cuz the picture of the torp would be stationary but i wanna animate it moving.

Oh you can work pretty fast on it if you set your own hotkeys. Like: Z for start point of the section, X as endpoint and C for paste into the timeline or something like that. I can´t remeber the trimmer in Vegas now.

as to ur first point, u can zoom in on trimmer and easily highlite to 1 frame, then as bauzi says u can set hotkeys or do it all witht he mouse, + if u look down bottom of the trimmer theres an exact frame select where u can actually type it in.

to ur 2nd point, mask the torpedo then when u put it onto ur timeline, use the pan/crop tool and keyframe it panning across the screen. u can rotate or w/e too if u want, for advanced animation of it u will have to do something else tho, this wil jsut give simple movement

It'a not really a lazy thing. I kinda need buttons to highlight the areas cuz my fingers are kinda shaky. My medical record really sux so yea.

Oh! And its absolutely AWESOME that there is a Star Trek fan here besides me.
