vegas 6 no video

Postby xDarkShurikenx » Sat Jul 07, 2007 5:26 pm

I ripped a video from a dvd i bought and i cut it to around 3 minutes and it's an avi file but when I loaded it with the explorer and clicked on it once at the bottom it said "video:stream attributes could not be determined;audio:(i can't remeber but it's normal)"

so when i dragged the video in the timeline it only showed the audio track there was no video

but then i took another avi file from another dvd i ripped and it worked perfectly so I don't get what's the problem and i tried even another dvd but that didnt work either so only one dvd is working I already tried uninstalling vegas and reinstalling but I'm getting the same problem

Also the videos used to work before but they stopped working today and I haven't done anything different.

probably a stupid question, but you can play the file you're trying to import in windows media player, right?

right click on the clip in the project media, and open in trimmer. hit tab a few times, and see if it helps: if all you see is a waveform in the trimmer, post again.

Strange, I'm actually having this same problem right now.. It's not a big dea lcause I prolly won't use the footage (seeing as how it's downloaded), But if I'm like just making a vid for fun or something I might use it or whatever.

I dunno if I'll say this right but.. If you're going to edit videos using this footage, then isn't it's just easier to disable steam when rendering trough vdub?..

to get codec information right-click on the video file, and choose "properties" and click the tab that says "summery" it should be listed next to compression and if that doesnt work, get a program called GSpot and drop the file in it

Download the AMVapp and use VirtualDubMod to convert the clips to Lagarith or HuffYUV. Read all about how to do this here.
