Converting Sony Vegas

Postby nikko14 » Sat Jun 23, 2007 10:30 pm

Hi, I was just wondering, could someone point me into a direction to a place to convort my Sony Vegas video? I made an AMV but it wont let me put it on Youtube because it is in the wrong format. And I tried a couple of COnverters but the video doesnt show up on it.... :(

did you create the anime images yourself? did you animate it?

or did a company in japan produce it?

did you create the music yourself?

unless you made it yourself (everything, including the actual animation/video footage you are using... filmed it, animated it, hired the voice actors, ect) then more than likely your sources are coppywrited by someone other than you...

O.o

according to the the tube tos, you are supposed to own the coppywrites to all of your sources in your videos, if you dont own the coppywrites to distrobute the anime images you and the music you are using (and no owning the DVD/CD doesnt count as owning the coppywrite) then you arent supposed to upload it to their servers...

alot of people upload them anyways sometimes knowing/sometimes not that its against the youboob TOS...

That's not true.
In connection with User Submissions, you further agree that you will not: (i) submit material that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the material and to grant YouTube all of the license rights granted herein;
The bold part makes an important difference to what you say. Especially regarding the music. The tube has a license agreement with 4 major record labels that not only allows to put up their music videos, but also to use them in user created works.

If you dissect that sentence, it does say that you, not youtube, but you need to have that permission. I'm sure their lawyers would have read over that disclaimer enough to know exactly what every word implies.

Read what I wrote. The license agreement between the labels and the tube grants the users of the tube (in other words: you if you use the tube) the right to use the music videos in their own creations (of course only for the purpose to put it up on the tube). And that's what the terms of use request. They don't request an individual agreement between the copyright holder and the user, any applicable kind of permission is valid.

Think about what sense it would make if such an agreement would only the tube grant the rights? The vids are all put up by the users.

Regardless, that's how it reads.

To clarify, those companies made deals with youtube to not sue youtube for copyright violation... but youtube's TOS (as you quoted it) did not change to reflect that at all. If you've noticed that a good percentage of what's on youtube (90% or so) is content that directly violates their TOS, you can see just how seriously they take TOS violations. They count on people violating their TOS to push thier company forward into mainstream acceptence. They claim they can't stop it, that it's an overwhelming force they can't move against - enough to make them seem like they're working on the problems all the while they rake up advertising deals from the media outlets too tired to fight any more.

uploading anime does not dis-obey there TOS,if you read the "whole" thing, you will notice it says something about you can upload shows or anything like that as long as you changed it around and added things to it,as long as its different you can upoad it,and thats way of the words they said,i cant think of what it actually said, but its basically saying "you can upload anime as long as you formed it into your own AMV"..

If you noticed about 80% of utube has broken the TOS,wich even though it is allowd to have amvs on as long as you created them into your own video, but still about 80% of youtube has broken their TOS

but im offtopic,bu i just thought id like to state that..

I thought it was due to the Japanese animé companies complaining about unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, not due to DMCA violations.
