Which Vegas is worth getting?

Postby Kumatora » Sun Apr 29, 2007 11:19 am

I'm looking into this software and I noticed that there are three versions. Are there any major differences between these three versions? Also, which is worth getting?

Are you talking about versions like Vegas 6.0, 7.0 and so on, or are you talking about the different editions, like Movie Studio?

I personally use Vegas 6.0, and I like it. I know that in 7.0 there were some interesting upgrades, like being able to edit VOBs.

In fact -- none of these. Unless, the most expensive one -- Vegas+DVD .

Dunno what exactly ya need from Vegas, but I'm usin' Vegas 5.0 , and am alright with it.. Just buy Vegas itself.

Though I dunno 'bout contents of those packages o.O

if you want a good program that is good that is cheap go for 5.0 or 6.0

7.0 doesnt have that much more than its previous versions from what i can tell

any version that says "movie studio" on it is the "cheap/dumbed down" version of the full program... think of it like "Premeire" VS. "Premeire Elements"

Out of those three, the one you'd probably want is Vegas+DVD. It's got Vegas 7, plus a bunch of DVD stuff.

But yeah, go for Vegas 5 or 6, if you're short on cash. There's not much difference between them, and they're pretty good to handle.

Well, I tried the trial 7.0 version and IIRC, I didn't find any major upgrade to my 6.0 version.

Plus, 6.0 is very stable (even more than Premiere IMO),easy to learn AND operate.

Therefore, I strongly suggest you to buy version 6.0 over the other versions.

I think I'll go for just the movie studio. I just need a good editing program. I'm not trying to pull anything extremely fancy.

Thank You guys. I'm going to download a trial of Movie Studio in about 3 weeks due to school. Also, why would I need more than 3 Audio and 3 Visual tracks. I'm not trying for any kind of crossover videos.
