Sony Vegas 7.0: "Render As" problem

Postby ricemonster » Fri Apr 13, 2007 11:48 am

im currently making a music video for FFX and this is the first time i use Sony Vegas. everything works fine, the preview, audio, the video, and saving it as a project. i wanted to see how it'll look as a final video so i thought id save it as a movie. so i went to "Render As" and i chose ".wmv" as the file type then saved. so a window opened then it loads... but only for a few seconds. then i checked the file where i saved it but the video shows only 3 seconds of the whole video. the video itself is about 4 minutes long. i also tried to save it as ".avi" but still no luck.

the files i used r ".mp3".. and ".mpeg".

am i doing sumthing wrong?

It could be that the loop region you set it as, was only for three seconds. Set the loop region on the whole video and try re-rendering it again.

Don't edit with MPEG or MP3s. Use HuffYUV/Lagarith-encoded .avi files for your video, and .wav files for your audio.

and they aren't frame-accurate, which means that all your sync could go down the drain...and nobody wants that (at least no editor that I know)

if a codec doesn't say lossless, or have a lossless option...then it is lossy. (this means divx, xvid, mepg1, mpeg2...and a multitude of others)
a good lossy codec takes advatage of what the human eye cannot see to give you better compression.
try re-encoding something to mpeg1 or 2 a few times and you'll start to notice it.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

vobs != mpg (but .vob is very similar to mpeg2, as pointed out by the wiki entry)
but if you're editing interlaced I'd hate to see the resulting video quality

VOBs use MPEG-2 video streams. As far as I know, DGIndex can index MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 movie files just as well as it can index VOBs.
