I don't know why, but everytime I insert a fx (like cookie cut, invert, etc) the fx only has effect on half of the clip; its very hard to explain. I try a different clip and still has that same effect , then a try the same clip and a different clip on a new track but I still have the same problem. The fx only has effect on half the screen. Any help will be appreciated

So if I understand you correctly, you're saying that in the preview window, only half of the image shows the effect?

Hmm, never heard of that before. Are you sure it's not just the preview window messing up? Try rendering out a portion and seeing if the effect is actually applied to the whole screen, despite what the preview window looks like.

How are your clips encoded?

Its .avi, most of them were rvmb(real player) files that I converted to .avi with WinAVIConverter 7.7,

The fx was working yesterday and only added 1 extra clip.

lol i meant to just take a "picture" but that works too..

right click on it and select properties, hit the summery tab and tell me what it says next to compression,

you might have to convert them to lagarith and see if that works...

and i see how much work you have done on it...

though if you take the file and convert the whole thing to lagarith (if you have enough hd space) delete the old file and rename the new file to the exact same name as the old file then vegas will automatically change over to the new file

so in essence you would only be swaping out files

Along the top edge of your preview window you should find an icon: a small square with a two-tone circle inside of it. Hover your mouse cursor over it and it will be marked as "Split Screen View". Click the arrow just to the right of it. Then click "Select All".

Read more about it under the Help topic called "Split-Screen Previews".

(P.S. Don't do the DivX thing anymore. :D )

Sorry! What I wrote isn't quite right. Doing that will disable FX over the entire preview screen.

What you want to do is click on that square icon and ignore the arrowhead beside it. When the icon is disabled (i.e. the button is not "depressed") then you will see all of your FX. When it is depressed, then you can select whether the FX are disabled on the left side, the right side, or all over.
