The bottom clip should have the B&W effect and no CC. The top clip gets the CC but no B&W.

And you don't need all those keys unless you want a LOT of action. Just two keyframes, the left one with a small size, the right one with a large size.

I'm not sure the cookie cutter behaves well with a size of zero. (Don't have my other PC powered up or I'd try it out.) Which is why the fade is there: set the left CC size to very small, then fade it in for a smooth start.

Don't forget to experiment with the feather and border sliders.

see when you say fade it in?is that using the fade offset on the top corners of the clip?or the crossfade between 2 clips?

this (right click and save as - wmv video file showing you what he's asking you to do) is what he is describing. he just wants to show you how to start thinking with layers instead of thinking everything goes on one line.

Ah I know,I've been trying to now, which is good.

How'd I go about using that track motion tool to move a clip from 1 side to another?Like say I wanted a circle of someones face from another clip move from the left hand side of the screen to another. How'd I go about doing that?I know the circle bit,I think you use the cookie cutter..

Here (another right click and save as) it's very simple but it shows you how it works.

I've finished my video, but for some reason, the video jerks a bit when the footage is slowed down from the original. This only happened when the video was finished and not in Vegas. Did I render it wrong or what? I followed the directions here:

click on the clip>insert/remove envelope> velocity
then a green line should show up and you can change the speed with that

no motion just ends up jerky when slowed down too much

well if you are going a negative speed, that would technically be moving backwards would it not?

hmm you're right I suppose.I have another question,I'm sorry if I'm annoying by being a questionaire asking so many questions but I have really tried my best sometimes and I cant really get something to work...

Lets say I had this clip..

Image

But I want to cut out a section like this

Image

And insert this into the section I cut out

Image

How'd I go about doing that?It would be too hard to set alot of anchors around the 2nd picture and then using mask...or is that what you do?
