Vegas rendering time increasing

Post by Sayoria » Fri Oct 01, 2010 2:24 pm

After I get to about 30-40% usually when rendering my video, the time just starts increasing. An example would be:

34% 1:20 left

Once the 1:20 runs out, the % would go to 35, and then add more time. It would go like this:

34% 1:20 left
35% 3:40 left
36% 7:30 left

And the number just keeps getting higher the longer I wait. Is there some way to stop this? I notice it happens in nearly, if not, all Vegas versions....or, atleast the ones I have tried. Also, these are only like 10 second clips I try to render, this isn't even my final product, it always seems to happen, and I cannot ever figure why.

Do you happen to have a LOT of layers in that section that's rendering? If so, it's possible that's what's slowing it down which is normal.

(more layers you have stacked on top of each other, the longer the render time)

Or some effects, noise, etc - or black/white only in the beginning of the video (intro text)

That is my current setup, and that in the red, is all I am trying to save. Nothing more. I try to shorten even that sometimes, and it still has the issue. Not even 10 seconds of footage, no effects added yet, nothing. One line of footage.

Btw, what codec are you using and how much RAM do you have? You can decrease the time by using lossless avis or having more RAM.
And your AR is wrong unless you plan to flag the final video.

I am using ffdshow, with it set at MPEG-4. My Memory is 4GB, the computer is new.

To be perfectly honest, though I have made videos before, I still don't know all the terminology with it. What exactly do you mean by "AR" and Transition on said place? I am not saying I don't actually know them, I might, but not familiar with the Abbr. and such.I have pulled out the basics ages ago, just never pushed forward in learning more, heh. >.o...

AR = Aspect Ratio

Transition on said place = you have a transition on that place where it slows down (two clips transitioning)

And as I said - mpeg-4 isn't really good for editing, try lossless codecs like lagarith or huffyyuv ;>

I got Huffyuv in there, looking REALLY good, but this retarded time thing is still happening. I am about to delete Vegas off my computer again. It drives me nuts. It has plagues me for years now, I could never make this infinite time loop stop multiplying, and these clips are always small..... saving a whole video will be nothing short of a lifetime, really. >_>....

Sorry guys, it is really just getting on my nerves. I just want to save clips.

When you say clips... nobody really asked what are you rendering INTO?

Are you rendering lossless (huffyuv) too, right?

At first, I was rendering it into NTSC DV, then I tried "Default Template (Uncompressed)" To directly use Huffyuv in my rendering, I don't see the option. Just the typical NTSCs, PALs, HDVs, and HD1080 things.

If you mean something else, again, sorry. I really should look into learning this program more. I only make videos once or twice a year, I should really look into this stuff more. >.<
