OP Exchange etiquette question

Postby jadedcritic » Wed Mar 26, 2008 1:33 pm

Briefly put, I want to get in the habit of some vids a week and giving the editors feedback. Both because I like vids, and because I want to work on my own perspective.

My question is, I notice allot of listings in the threads already, is it rude if I just ninja one from one of the other threads and PM feedback to the author? It seems like the act of posting here means they WANT feedback, but the act of posting to a specific thread implies they want feedback from a specific person, not necessarily just some dude who wanders past the thread. Before I go offending a bunch of people by offering unsolicited opinions, I want to make sure it's OK.

I think most people would want the feedback in the op form and not a pm but other than that if you are offering free ops I'm sure just about anyone will be willing to take them if they have posted in this forum.

I agree. I feel without constructive critisim I cannot grow. So I know if you find the uh... about one thread that I started  feel free to PM, leave me an opinion, or just reply to the thread. I'm personally gald to get any feedback I can on any of my videos.
Somedays you just sit back and wonder... why me?

I'm agree with both of them... As long as you are not flaming videos, I believe that editors would love to hear your criticism.

but what about the videos that are truely horrific trainwrecks and there really isn't much in the way of anything nice to say about it. I mean I'd feel bad about Tearing a video to shreads but... sometimes.... you know what i mean

Constructively tearing a vid apart is one thing, like actually taking the time to point out what is wrong and how they can improve (or at least scratch the surface and let them know (nicely) how they can at least make their next one bearable, depending on how bad it is.). Just giving a "OMFG! TH@T fUkN SUKd!! U Fuk1N sUk!! Wu7 teh Fuk wer U tHinKN?!!! U CAnt fuK1N m@K aMv'S EVar!!! JusGTF0 n d1E!!!!!!!1111111" is not cool and considered flaming. :?

But to the OP, as was already said, most people would prefer the op form be used, but whether you use that or a pm, yes, I think its safe to say more or less everyone who posts in an op exchange thread would more than likely accept feedback from anyone provided it was at least somewhat constructive. *^_^*

Rest assured, I have every intention of staying constructive. Hopefully. The biggest obstacle to overcome, put simply, is that I have 0 experience. It's pretty hard to give constructive technical feedback when you don't yet know what's possible, and what isn't. What's left is mostly aesthetic. I did find the guide to opinions though, and though I didn't find a form, I figure I'll just use what I found as a framework.

if you watch enough videos you can say stuff like "you should have cleaned up the grain" or various other things like that, you might not know how to fix it, but you can say it should/needs to be fixed :P
