Five days only - free reviews for original videos

Postby Kai Stromler » Mon Aug 18, 2003 7:24 am

I don't really need the distraction from my current projects, but I feel like doing this anyway, so here goes.

Until 3:00 PM server time on Friday, 22 August 2003, I will be collecting vids for review that meet the following standards:

- AMVs only, not game footage
- music not on the most-used list*
- anime not on the most-used list**
- no .wmv or .rm (not fond of closed formats)
- no Xvid (my gear doesn't have enough horsepower to play 'em back)

*unless the video is the only one in the database to use its anime
**unless the video is the only one in the database to use its musical artist

Post links here; all videos must be completely downloaded by 3:00 PM server time on Friday, so get 'em in early. Early submission also increases the chance you'll get your opinion in a timely fashion; those who don't put in till Friday may have to wait as much as a week till I can get online again and post comments (moving cross-country).

And the usual disclaimer:
I can't promise you a good review, only a fair one, with about 448 points of 'usefulness', whatever that may be. I hold firm to the five-is-average idea. All submitted videos that meet the above criteria will be reviewed in as timely a fashion as I can manage. All ATVs are for use by riders 16 years and older.

Okay I have some original videos for you. Here are the links

Shrine of the Goddess (both versions are Starwind/Hawking Productions)

Shrine of the Goddess 2 (if you want to see the extended version + it was a challenge so I don't know if you would consider it original since I've been the only one doing it to this song)

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=18385

Zoom Zoom (Outlaw Productions) (Skyshroud is one of my partners)
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=20442

Dragon Ball X (Outlaw Productions)

Thanks and I hope you enjoy our videos.

I'd let it slide for originality, but it is .wmv, and so inelegible at present...I may go back and review it at a later date, though, once I can be sure I can play it back.

Just got Skyshroud's DB X, the review should be up in a day or so.

Sorry about that. I forgot that it was wmv format. Anyway it will play in Windows 2000 and XP or go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... layer.aspx

This media player runs very well and doesn't take now more than 2 minutes on comcast to download. If the player was the problem then I hope this helps you out. Anyway thanks.

There's 6 there now....all are .mpg format. And mind you, I dont even HAVE opinions on any of my vids yet (none that I didnt put there myself anyway...and even then, theres just one), so I could use the comments desperate-like.

I'll take a look at those; everything but "History Repeats..." is eligible under the conditions offered above, and I may go back and take a look at that one down the line. Staind [ok] + Akira [good] = high potential.

nift, currently downloading.

The best part about offering a thread like this is learning what's not in the most-used lists. I thought for sure Staind was, but they aren't, and with all the One Piece vids I've seen or heard about in the past year I had figured it'd cracked the list as well.

That 3 Doors Down is on the most-used list and Alice In Chains is not is simply a CRYING SHAME.

Yeah, that is an injustice....

but that, I can chalk up to mainstream musical taste....am I the only one who scratches his head at DBZ being on the most used anime list TWICE, sandwiching Evangelion???

Maybe that top one's for all the DBZ videos that use Linkin Park. :p

If you want to give them a crack

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=15812 - La Federation (Yeah, I'll admit off the bat the quality leaves something to be desired...consider it a beta, a better quality remake is planned)

and/or

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=17177 - Mobile Suit Gundam: Nemesis (didn't see anything about no trailer parodies, so I figured, 'Why not?')

I'm putting the finishing touches on my first video as we speak. Once it's polished and has a server I'll post the link here. So far there's only one other pure Alien Nine video in the database, and one of only four or five Vines tunes.

Title: One for the Kids
Anime: Alien Nine
Music: The Vines, "Outtathaway!"
