Free reviews for emotional vids

Postby Braveliver » Sun Aug 17, 2003 12:43 am

Ok. I am up to doing some free reviews, but there are some restrictions.

1. The video must try to evoke an emotional response other than revoltion or inciting to violence. Any other emotion is fair game. (Happyness, sadness, longing, love, loathing, hate (Not just violence but real hate) lonelyness, understanding, peacefullness, etc.

2. No senseless violence or meaningless videos. (This is for your own good since these types of videos do not fair well with my reviews, and doesn't fit well with requirement number 1)

3. I will get to everyone as I can, usually within 1 to 2 days.

Be understanding that I am not an easy reviewer, I do not give out high numbers (9's and 10's) very easily, nor do I give out low numbers too often either. What I am is honest, and when I see something that can be improved upon, I will point it out. Above all, I am here to help you, so if you want advice, you are in the right place.

All of them except the Invader Zim AMV should be worthy candidates. Gods willing, there'll be a Metropolis video in there later today as well.

Emotional vids eh? Well my vid supposedly deals with the loss of innocence, hmm emotionally classified as regret or sorrow prehaps. *looks at other posts* seems like there is a lot of that going around.

Anyway give it an op if you have the time and feel free to be as critical as you like, I can take it (I think).

The link is in my sig.
Thanks again.

You were right Spork. That is an amazing video, just wish Sarah had put it in herself. If you wish to share a link I do not mind, but I may refrain from reviewing them due to the fact that the author themselves didn't submit the link for review. For this instance I will be reviewing it because I think I have some helpful information for Sarah that can help her a lot.

Her video has sections where she has slowed down her footage in Premiere, and when you do this you can have a flicker on the top and bottom of your screen. Just as a tip of advice, you can remove this by right clicking the slowed clip, and choose Video Setup, and in the menu that pops to the side, Field Options, then click on Flicker Removal. This will make your clip nice and smooth without any flickering. (Had to learn the hard way.) Just a Premiere tip from Braveliver.

OKay Braveliver, I've got a real oldschool vid of mine, but it's a love story so it'll fit your requirements. But, it's DBZ, so I don't know your feelings on that, and it's DL footage, so I don't expect very good scores, I just wanna know what you think of the concept.

I think the other one is also to "UNCHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS "DEINTERLACE IF SLOWER THAN 100% SPEED""

I got that a LOT when I was getting ops from people for my Blue Sky Brings Tears video. Uncheck that when EVER you slow your footage down even by 0.00000000000001% [you WILL regret it if you don't]

By the way. I didn't mention it at the top, but there is a new section you will be reviewed on in all these free opinions. Instead of just the usual catagories, there is the added catagory of Emotional Impact - this is where I will grade you on how much emotion you have brought out with your vid.

Unless you've already de-interlaced your footage during the capture process, in which case Premiere comes up with something like this.
