Review exchange blacklist (Use wisely)

Postby Songbird21 » Fri May 23, 2003 2:59 am

Okay. I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of reviewing vids on here and not getting a review in return. So I'm proposing a review exchange blacklist. This is where you can list ORG members who didn't return the favor.

A few guidelines:

1) Email or post to the person and ask them why the review hasn't come through BEFORE posting a name here.

2) Review should be more than 2 weeks late (Unless they are totally swamped, and say so in their post). I think 7 days is more than enough time for someone to download and review a vid, but let's be fair.....sometimes people just get busy with life.

3) Be polite! No posts like "This sh**head is a looser". Just a simple "This person did not review my vid" will do.

4) Include in your post:
-Name of the offender
-Title of their vid and the title of the post you responded to.
-How long it's been since you gave them a review.

Now remember people. Be nice. The mods will shut this down faster than we can blink if it turns ugly.

Go to it.

Hmm, well this is interesting. I did leave an Op for your vid a while back and you never put one for any of mine. In case you did just forget or missed it here is a link.

It's been over 20 days since I reviewed his vid. :( I think I've been more than fair. I emailed him a week ago and got no response so I'm adding him to the list.

Sometimes I don't opinionate videos and it usually falls under one of these.

1. the video is so bad that I just refuse to, because I don't like giving below 6's

and

2. I can't watch avi's or Divx's or Wmv's.

So yeah but usually I post when I can't op a video, just wanted to write that sometimes people have reasons.

If someone doesn't want to be stuck reviewing "Bad" vids they shouldn't be posting here in the first place. If someone has reviewed your vid then it is VERY rude to not review theirs in return, I don't care what your reasons are (Unless your comp died or something else happened that was beyond your control). People don't like doing a review and not getting one in return.

If you have trouble playing those types of files your should say so in your review exchange post.

And if there are any other reasons someone cannot complete a review exchange then they should at least tell the person.

For the first time in my life, I actually agree with Nemo. You could also say that if you ONLY want good ops, perhaps you shouldn't be offering up your vids on the exchange to begin with. :?

For my own part, if I'm in the mood to exchange, I don't even speak up unless I feel like I'll be giving a mostly-good op, because I'm tired of people getting hostile if I don't tell them their vid is the best thing since sliced bread.

Yes, it is bad to not hold up your end of the exchange, but people also don't want to be screamed at for being honest about their opinions. :?

If you don't want to have to give bad reviews then maybe you could check out other people's review posts instead of putting one up yourself. That way you can download the vid and, if you don't like it, you don't have to reviuew it, and nobody's feathers get ruffled. *Smiles and hopes she's being diplomatic*

I realize you're worried about stepping on other people's toes, but if someone doesn't want people's honest opinions on their vids then they shouldn't be posting on here either. That makes about as much sense as a woman (And I'm a woman so you can't call me sexist) asking a guy if she looks fat in an outfit and then getting pissed if he says it looks less than flattering. If she doesn't want an honest opinion, she shouldn't ask for one in the first place. If I ask my husband that (And usually I'm unsure if I like the outfit myself), and he doesn't like the outfit I simpley shrug my shoulders and change my clothes.

The whole point is that some people just don't realize that if you put their art in a public forum, occaisionaly, their feelings will be trodden on.

I hope I didn't hit any nerves, just tryin' ta make my point. :)

No, I agree; it's just that it doesn't always work out that way.

Just saying that this might explain a few cases of people not following through. They should have not agreed to do the op exchange, but it might be too late by the time they realize they're in a bad spot.

True. But I think that's, unfortunately, a risk we run by doing this sort of thing.
