Glowing overlays in Vegas

Postby Hagaren Viper » Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:12 am

This is something that that is probably like, AE exclusive or something knowing my luck, but you never know.

Spoiler :

(Pics are from Chiikaboom's Chronicles-Of-The-OCD-Goth-Cowboy-Jesus-Future-Overlord vid)

I'm trying to figure out how to make my overlays look...shinier. Just lowering the opacity obviously doesn't work, and after spending some time playing with effects, I can't figure out if I'm missing something or it just can't be done (Though my logic is that if Photoshop 6 can do additive overlays, then Vegas 6 must be able to. BECAUSE THAT MAKES SENSE).

So does anyone know if this is possible in Vegas 6? Is it even emulate-able?

glow+blur? That's what it looks like off-hand. Maybe try messing around with the blending modes.

I don't know if it's possible in vegas 6, but in 8, you can change the layer "compositing mode" to "add" and you can get about the same glowing added to your clip by using overlays that way.

Looks like dodge to me. Using either something from vegas media generator, some particle illusion effect or just some abstract scene from an anime (I sometimes use the beginning of Blood+ OP 1 for a similar look). I use a lot of different compositing modes when I make vids and I think that picture looks most like they put a layer set to dodge mode over the characters.
Also just putting the same image on a layer above it that's set to dodge can give it that "shiny" look. I usually prefer it to add.
It's a bit hard to tell just from those pics tho so I may be wrong..

I was actually under the impression that she used a different editing program than Vegas until...well, today.

But I think everyone gave me the answer anyway, so thanks to everyone who replied!

In sony vegas, Make a light light long flash in the bottome track Clip (below the faded clip), and use blur flash, and then add a little light flash to the overlay clip, and when the flash kicks in cross fade the over lay clips from both sides. Correct me if im wrong but i think this is what u mean.
