A flame or fire rising effect

Postby ultimateX021 » Thu Jan 15, 2009 12:27 am

I'm curious about doing a fire effect where the flame rises up and covers the entire image. It can adjusted at a slow speed or fast speed. What programs will allow me to do that?

Windows Movie Maker and I got Roxio Digital Media Deluxe Suite 10, but I'm still getting used to some of the controls and such. Last time I checked, I didn't see any flaming rising effect.

You need "after effects" and "eye candy for after effects"
just google it

A cheap / free option is Quicktime. v6.5 had a flame filter in it, it wasn't very flexible but it was there.

I should point out that the filter was removed in v7 - so depending upon your setup you may or may not be able to go back to 6.5.

That's what I would do. You can download the trial version for free and export a bunch of effects that you can keep. Then put the fire effect into your video, In vegas you can use chroma or different compositing modes along with pan/crop (I'm not sure how your software works tho...) Or you could put your vid into PI but I never learned how to do that.

I used a flame transition at the end of 'Animerata', just before credits. It didn't fill the screen with flame though, not sure if it could. Sony Vegas Pro, might have been in a pack I installed.

if you want to do it like almoozaayaaf suggested than you can use this tut:
Code: Select all
http://library.creativecow.net/articles/dallos_matt/fire.php
(i've read the tut doesnt works out good though, try playing with fractal noise anyway should be possible somehow)

No program of the called ones can create good looking flames, the only program available for the standart editor which can create really good flames is 3ds Max with the plug in "FumeFX".
AE can only create flames which look nice as a background and the candle plug in has too much limitations, and the fire looks simply like an amount of small particles...

There are certain other programs which can create special animations-types (fire), as example "Eyeon Fusion"... but FumeFX beats everything.

Fume fx is an excellent way to make a 3d flame fx,but there are also other cool solutions like dpit effex plug-in for c4d,or maya fluids is also cool.
