yea, they were all different versions - I started off on Sony Vegas Movie Studio 4.0 and I'm currently using Sony Vegas 6.0 ... Plan on getting Sony Vegas 8.0 fairly soon maybe?

But all sony are basically the same...I'm using sony vegas 7 which i think is better than 8 =]

Each version, there is only a couple of few changes that could be helpful in whole. And about the preview box at the bottom. There's a way to put it back to original [at top].

preview box has always been on bottom right for me O.o

but yes you can move the frames around by clicking and dragging the bunch of little dots on the side of it.. you can move the frame where you want to see it.
