Sort of flame effect I guess

Postby Chemikilla » Sat Oct 18, 2008 5:25 pm

Alright this is an effect I've been trying to figure out how to do for a while:
sort of like blurry red/yellow/orange flame colors on top of a video.

i think it would depend on what program you are using...

Seeing that its from the Trapcode website, I would assume that the second one was made using Particular and after watching many of the tutorials at videocopilot.net and the kind of stuff it can do, it would seem this is true.

I saw one guy on Creative Cow make a fire effect using Particle Playground in AE, but It was a bit on the difficult side.

That looks like a fire particle effect that has been centred off screen and zoomed in so that you just see the edges.

This seems even more likely when you consider that the whole clip is just a bunch of pyro effects mashed together.

This effect is pretty straightforward in Motion, and I suspect that AE can do it to.

What tools do you have?

Well, you could make a fire effect using a program like Particle Illusion, but I'm sure you can download something similar from one of those web sites that offer free video backgrounds up for download. Once you've got one of the two, you could layer it over the top of the video.
