Help naming a specific special effect

Postby topgamer101 » Sat Jun 07, 2008 7:50 pm

There is an effect where you take a character from a scene, extract him/her out and place him/her either on top of another scene or use additional special effects to extract and remove the background and fill it with special effects.

I'll try to find a video that has an example of what I mean, but if anyone could name the effect for me and let me know if a certain program is required to do it that would be great. Thanks for any help. :)

Rotoscoping or Masking

can be done in Sony Vegas, After Effects or with the help of Photoshop

its essentially frame by frame editing.

ok, so the frame by frame is unavoidable. Which method would you suggest between photoshop and after effects? I was thinking of getting after effects sometime this year actually.

would you rather do the masking in your program? or would you rather import a mass of image files?
