Help with an effect

Postby kyubixmunky » Fri Jun 06, 2008 3:15 pm

I have this effect in mind, but I can't think of a video with it off the top of my head. But anyways, It's sort of a grainy filmy texture, but not exactly. Its like a super rough extreme version of it with black splatter across the screen. Anyone know what it is?

If it helps, the type of video I'm going for is a compilation of fluid fight scenes, like in clannad, soul eater, flcl, and ttgl. The song is most likely going to be Dragula by rob zombie or if you can think of a song that fits better feel free to let me know. So if you cant find the effect, one that would go well with that type of video would help. Thanks.

Uhm.?? Could you define it a bit more? Let me help you. There are some kinds of effects that come in my mind from your post.

This one doesn´t seam too much as an old film effect as a static, but it is. All the grungdy and dirty look is called "grundge style"? I achieved it with an old film filter for some grain/noise and the moving stripes. The dirty look come from some overlayed grundge textures.

Esepcialy here you can see a texture pretty good. The white deep scratches in the camera lens:

This is a picture of a paint splatter preset clip from "Video Copilot"´s "Riot Gear FX-Lite pack"? Do you mean things like this?

misfire (I think it's in the magic bullet suite) has several types of 'noise'
from vingarette lighting to make the whole scene dark
to funk & splotches to make black/shadowed splotches appear
and film grain and scratches.
You can tweak each plug-in so as to control how heave the effects are.

or there's always the grungy riot gear textures, and craps loads of brushes in PS (erroded), or even the 'apparition' standard bg in ae that can be applied as "moving grunge"?

Playing with fractal noise may also help.
new banzors in the making :p
