In your amvs: Natural slides?

So I know how to do the slide effects with pan/crop or camera and motion blur, but some of these amvs just look so good like the slide was always there, I have given the thought of masking it, but I just wanna know, here's an Avatar Music Video with a few slides I was talking about :

I'm not entirely sure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0ElNeWx9n4 but this guy seems to be very good at achieving natural-looking panning. Highly skilled indeed.
