How to do the pencil animation ??

I just saw an amv Named PaperHeart http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmGZ8lbKDUU.
I am very curious about the technique involved in this animation.
Please can anyone tell me how is it done ??

The creator of that made another video called pencil head and it used the same technique. He posted a overview of how he did it for that video. It's basically a bunch of different layers, there is no simple way to do if if that is what you are after.
