E3 2009

Postby CodeZTM » Mon Jun 01, 2009 6:05 pm

The official E3 2009 discussion thread.

Microsoft seriously dissapointed me. Let's review...

+New Halo Game
+Mii Joyride
+Beatles Rock Band (A real console seller right here)
+Sequels Left and Right (All FPS)
+First Person Gritty Realism Super Bionic Soliders With Huge Muscles and Creepy Monsters Shooters A Palooza
+Gears Crud
+Metal Gear Solid [Not too shabby on Microsoft's part I must concede...]
+Final Fantasy XII [Annouced Last Year...]
+Alan Wake [again, not too shabby]
+Tony Hawk's Very Fragile Looking Skateboard
+Project Terminator... Oops. I mean Natal.

All of this crud is what we were expecting. Nothing new or compelling. No RPG's except Final Fantasy, which everyone were expecting anyway. Natal is pretty much just a Wii rip off gimmick, which also will give me Milo related nightmares tonight. The first person shooters are easily forgotten among the ton of other releases. Metal Gear was slightly shocking to me, which pretty much just makes Sony suicidal. Alan Wake looked cool, but I'm scared the dialouge is going to drive me nuts during gameplay. Tony Hawks' board is yet another Wii gimmick crud, and it looks REALLY breakable. Beatles Rock Band isn't all that special, in terms of the other stuff that COULD HAVE been shown. I'm sick of Microsoft being Sequel tasic, that's Nintendo's job and they do a good job of it. Final Fantasy XII makes me cringe at the gameplay, scared to death that they're going to pull the same crud that XII pulled.

I dunno. I'm hoping that Nintendo wows me tomorrow. I know we can expect Pokemon Related news, since Silver and Gold are getting remade, the new DS Zelda game, and rumors of the new Mario game. Sony better have something spectacular, or they're going to go the way of the Dreamcast.

I'm just sincerly hoping they don't make another damn DS. O_o

Is anyone else besides me perturbed by the lack of original titles? It's always Title #.

Is that the actual title?

Why risk ingenuity when a settled franchise will still sell?

Lol. Of course not. The game is called skate somethign or another. It just has a Wii like skateboard that looks like it would snap if more than 150 pounds were applied to it.

Exactly, don't get me wrong though... Trying new games is great but just can't seem to get enough of the already proven ones like FF, metal gears, resident evil, etc. The story-lines and game-play are simply compelling and you can usually jump into playing them without even playing their predecessors.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

The fact that Golden Sun now has a DS version coming out has made me forgive all the shit Nintendo put me through this last year. I have been waiting for nearly 5-6 years for this news, and had given up hope at year 3.

The Wii Super Mario Brothers looks freaking awesome, as well as the new Metroid, Kingdom Hearts, LOZ Spirit Tracks and Mario Galaxy 2 games. Nintendo has MORE than made up for last year's shitfest, even though they spent a little too long on the Wii Fit Plus for my tastes.

Sony, likewise, did awesome this year. Last year was also shitty for them, but they've also slightly made up for it, but not as much as Nintendo did. New Metal Gear for PSP doesn't really matter to me, but it gives something nice for the poor PSP owners.. Final Fantasy XIV [seriously? You're still working on XII] looks nice and has drawn the Square Fans back to the PS3. Uncharted 2, Infamous, Madden 10, Final Fantasy XIII,Batman arkham asylum, Brutal Legend, White Knight chronicles, Grand turismo, Ghost Busters, Ninja Gaiden, Saw, King of Fighters , Tekken, Red Faction, Assassin's Creed 2 and others were shown and makes good sense since this looks like a good lineup for sony for once. The third title in the triology of ICO and shadow of the collosus, known as the last guardian is a lovely addition to the fans of the series.

Awesome? Awesomely hilarious. The barely showed any fucking games and most of the shit they did show was along the lines of "we've already done this" or "look how well we can rip off other games and put giant price tags on them!"

But it's ok, let us show you the PS2 again, that's still a good console, right? D:

There was few and far between that actually made me want a PS3.
AC2 and Last Guardian look like awesome times but other than that it was all very meh.

But seriously, it was a fucking joke.

Well, considering I own a PS3 and have nothing but shitty games right now for it, it was a pretty good sony E3 for me.

I have been so underwhelmed by all the new games lately, and not much of the projected stuff is piquing my interest either.

I've known about Assassins Creed 2 for a while now. It wasn't that spectacular. And as far as Sony went, announcing AC2 was rather lackluster since I know it's a cross platform game.

Also, FFXIV Online? Really, this online shit again? Also, it's only PS3 exclusive right now. I remember a time with FFXIII was a PS3 exclusive title, but guess what, I'm going to pick it up for my 360 when it comes out.

I agree with the main sentiments so far, nothing but re-hashing old franchises and putting increasingly higher numbers on games. It all seems rather boring for the most part for me. I've known about ODST for a while and can't wait to play it, and I wont really know what to think about Halo:REACH until we can see more of it. We'll really just have to wait until we can see how well it will live up to the book.
