I don't think he'd want anyone finding out if possible, as it could possibly ruin his plan. Note what he did to the Comedian and Moloch. Also, if you think he was making it "easy" for them, you'd think he'd engineer his plan specifically for them, rather than possibly risk who knows who stumbling upon his computer and figuring out his easy as shit password to some rather incriminating evidence.

Look at it this way, the comic was written in the 1980's when no one knew what password security even meant. So it's kinda forgivable that Moore would be an idiot about it. The movie, well, it's not like anyone actually expects accuracy on computer issues in movies is it? I mean Hollywood is the place that sometimes seems to think Tron was a documentary.

OK, here's a scenario: he left clues to control them. If he knows what they're doing because he gave them the information he needed to do so, then he controls them. It makes the risk they pose manageable and known, instead of unknown. Had they been chasing their own leads, Ozy's plan might not have worked so well.

OK, stop defending an incredibly contrived scene. I might agree if the rest of the graphic novel was not heads above this scene, but it is. Alan Moore got lazy, plain an simple. There's no evidence to support that Adrian was purposefully manipulating any of the characters so that they would find him only 30 minutes after his plan succeeds.

Passwords in fiction are like this a lot, though. It's easier to come up with an unbelievably easy password than to have an unbelievable "hack" going on like in "Swordfish". I'd really prefer the unbelievably easy password.

The only show/movie/whatever that had me impressed by bypassing a password or security code was Doctor Who, from the first new season, the episode "Dalek" - Now that is at least completely believable. But you don't run into situations like that as much.

I've derailed by a lot lol

But by the time they arrived, he had already put the plan into action---so there was nothing for them to ruin, by his own pompous declaration.

I think he saw the whole thing as an elaborate chess game with the pieces there for his whim. Just my take on it, though.

I actually agree it's contrived, and it wasn't quite so bad in the original. Blindingly intelligent or not, Adrian is not above vanity. I still think it would be Adrian's style to do something like that, though.

I haven't read the original book at all, but I thought the movie was pretty good. I think a few scenes went on a little longer than they needed to, but other than that nitpick, I rather enjoyed the film.

And now your daily dose of immaturity.

Now don't expect me to provide painstakingly made and awesome immature pictures like this all the time. I have to pace myself or I start to actually annoy people.

(Not that I want to derail the thread any further.)

On an ON topic note, I have finally started reading the graphic novel, and so far I am fairly impressed by the depth. At first glance, it doesn't seem like it would take that long to read it, but it is an awful lot to digest. Might take me all weekend to finish it instead of two night as I had previously thought...

The hell).

/facepalm

Seriously? That was one of just a few things I didn't like about the book and that I wish was done differently. How could they possibly make that even dumber? :|
Not a big deal, but one of those things that takes away some of the immersion in the realism of it all. Kinda like that thing at the end which godix mentioned as well.

The point is, as I always read it, that Veidt wants them to 'find him out' so he can talk them around to his point of view and keep them from causing trouble / disturbing the utopia he is trying to build.

I thought the film was unexciting and suffered from all the problems with pacing and over-detailing that I thought it would.
