Cool?

Awesome?

Different from Vandalism?

I for one like street art, it sometimes has some cool humour, a political statement, or just looks awesome.

Anything cool around where you live?

Discuss.

There's some great graffiti just down the road from me... I'll have to kidnap a camera and go take a pic of it.

The whole building has art on it, and it looks cool. I think at one point the city said they were going to get rid of it, and there was an outcry from the public because it's such a landmark, so they decided not to.

But yeah, if artfully done, I am all for it, but sometimes it's just pointless.

No graffito here. The most elaborate piece of graffiti I seen in this town is a mary jane leaf drawn with a sharpie. Was an acquaintance with someone who done graffiti in one of the bigger cities I used to live in. Where he done it I haven't the slightest clue, since I don't see much anywhere in the big towns. And in my early high school years I used to draw "graffiti" on paper, if ya wanna call it that. I guess I was kinda inspired by the acquaintance.

Graffito is like a cardinal sin around here the way you see the police/parents/COC acts. O_o

one of the coolest things that happened recently around here is people made a bunch of stickers of Val Kilmer's head.

and then people started going around and colouring batman masks on them.

how awesome is that?

Not exactly graffito, but I noticed yesterday when I was walking around, that on this one stop sign someone put a small sticker that said "Big Chris doesn't" above the word "STOP". I was amused.

Note quite graffiti, but at work we put up a lot of awesome stuff. We had a giant Pac Man and Ghost made out of post-it notes that were stuck to one of the windows. We also have a lot of lol-cats stuff (I sit at the front at the Shift Leader desk and my monitors are covered in "Mam, I are the supervizor" and such).

Also, I sit next to NMC, who run the entire Australian network for our company, so they hate fielding stupid questions from Support members, so I put a shop on Moses computer that has a biblical Moses parting the Red Sea with the caption "if you approach me with a walk-up I will part your face".

There's some nice stuff in Ottawa, much of it sort of hidden away - shame I can't find pictures of many of these things. One I found...

And then this one buy a guy called Maki, who used to be at Carleton, who's got this really neat/different way of drawing animals. Again, shame I can't find more pictures of some of his better stuff... My brother got to chat with him once, cool guy.

Haven't seen any in my new area (Waterloo) yet...

But the person should have permission before doing something like that ...street art is cool as long as it's legal.

i've started doing some stencil stuff, since i'm not very good at freehand art, but have been vectoring for years. i still don't really have anything noteworthy though.
found a badass wall just awhile ago. filled up with 2 huge pieces. i spoke to someone who rents near there, and says that wall changes all the time. i'll have to go back and take pictures before someone with less talent than the current artist(s) fucks with it
KioAtWork: I'm so bored. I don't have class again for another half hour.

I love this stuff. Problem is my town is so rural that nobody does it. We have a big nascar mural, and a big country music mural, that cover the sides of two buildings. I'd go deface it, but they'd probably take that way way way too seriously (bored cops and all). What I really want to get into is electronic graffiti....LED's and flashers and copper tape and such, integrated into the graffiti. Problem with this is, I do it, and I could cause a bomb scare. So in the end I guess I'm just too much of a wuss to prove my artistic point in public on a large scale. Stickers are fun though...
