My AWA Pro entries

Postby Jnzk » Sat Sep 27, 2008 7:07 am

Here are the two videos I entered in Pro this year. The first one won Best Non-Traditional Source and the second was a finalist in that category and Best Artistic Endeavour.

Video: Deth, Love & Rebellion
Category: Character Profile, Fun, Serious
Source: Persepolis
Song: Street Fighting Man
Artist: Rolling Stones

This was my first time using a Blu-ray source. The quality of the HD version is lovely if your computer can handle it. I totally adore this movie. Check it out if you can. The soundtrack includes the greatest Eye of the Tiger cover ever made. :D

Video: Deer in Headlight
Category: Character Profile, Horror, Instrumental
Source: Madame Tutli-Putli, Paprika
Song: Busy Working
Artist: Plone

Canadian stop-motion animation. Only about 15 minutes of source, so it was quite hard to edit. Thanks to guy07 for getting the DVD for me.

Deth, Love & Rebellion is awesome, even despite the Rolling Stones. Nice to see Persepolis get it's own amv.

Deer in Headlight was interesting, but I wanted a conclusion of some sort. Oh well, either way these are the first two things to come out of AWA that I have any intention of keeping. :)

where did you get the Madame Tutli-Putli source, is it on dvd? I saw it in Berkley with Suberunker when they were showing the short film nominations and was surprised someone would actually use it, lol.

I dunno, I thought it had more closure than DLR with the whole butterfly thing.

The NFB is selling it for North American customers. But had I bought it directly myself, it would have cost 40 euros. What must Canadians be hatin' on Europe?

It pays to be Canadian.
I totally forgot about that movie ... it was pretty sweet, I'll give the video a look-see. :D

Woah, weird.
It was pretty cool, I think some effects for the paprika footage would have given it more of a dream feeling. Nothing spectacular, but for sure original. I give it four out of five dead people. :D

I enjoyed both these videos, especially the Persepolis one. Very interesting and cerebral

I agree with your diagnosis (see what I did thar?) that the Persepolis video turned out better in the end. Maybe I should try anime next. :o
