What the hell is with all these GREEN films!?!?

"Give a hoot and don't pollute!" We've seen it fail before!

I don't know about you, but the fact that Hollywood believes themselves to be POLITICAL GENIUSES is stupid.

And now, this...
The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Instead of the original "Stop killing each other or I''ll kill all of you" story, it's now: "Stop killing the Earth, or the Earth will kill you."
AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

Um ... that's pretty much what's happening here. We fucked shit up and now the earth is fucking us up. It's not marketing, it's not a conspiracy, it's real, and what they are doing is trying to warn people (and make a bit of money in the meantime, i guess). But I guess people like you don't really take it seriously : /
Oh well, we'll kill ourselves in the end anyways. No use in bitching about it.

Agreed. Other than Keanu Reeves' acting-through-unacting style, I got the feeling that the plot of the movie wasn't much different than the original. Space dude. Giant robot with laser beam eye (Gort flashed briefly on the screen...though it seems they were going for some sort of nanomachine plague stuff now). Deciding the goodness of one woman outshone the stupidity of an entire race.

Now, if that nanomachine plague is something manmade that the aliens are worried enough about to wipe humanity out about, then well, I can't blame them; I wouldn't want a bunch of Von Neuman nanomachines in my back yard either.

This is all very wild speculation from the trailer. Are you privy to leaked script, mebbe? I'm too lazy to hunt for any.

PlanetES is about Astronaut-garbage-collectors, and it's pretty good so far >.>

I think they try to play on the logic that Green issues affect everyone.
So the underlying themes would speak to a wide audience.
It's weak logic, but has some truth.

With the exception of Ferngully, I don't see green anywhere in those posters.

A more adequate name is "How to butt rape a classic"
But when you consider that Hollywood likes to routinely use film to butt rape classics just to get easy money.

They also like making films where an American is forcibly inserted into famous moments in history just so dull witted American movie goers will watch the drivel.

That, and how it's popular for movie directors with no real knowledge of the science, think it's ok to apply "artistic license" to a plot from a serious book.
If you read the book The Coming Global Superstorm, you'll find out how The Day After Tomorrow should have looked before the director fucked it up.

You say please stop them, I respond with "Stop encouraging asshole directors by watching their crap. Make them make decent films to begin with".

I'm not going to start discussing Gore's film, as you don't want to actually hear what it's actually about.

You know, I live in a place where you step outside on your porch and you breathe in FRESH AIR that has just been made from plants and stuff. The mountains are right in my backyard and a walk into the wilderness is not even a mile away. And yet all I do all day is play games, watch [adult swim] (and a few other things) and watch/edit AMVs, as well as hang out with my friends and do practically nothing.

As far as the trailer goes, no comment

I hate you :)

That is NOT the way I would describe Central Ontario.

In an interview with MTV News in March, Reeves told us that Klaatu’s message to Earth was very different from the one in the original, that he was bringing with him a warning to stop destroying the environment. Here it looks like the environment is destroying us (or Giants Stadium, at any rate) — which is it?

It doesn't surprise me that a person of your intelligence bought into this.

As for my HATRED for all movies, complaining about the fucking environment is not going to influence me to like em.
