Reread Wee Free Men from Terry Pratchett recently. I've started the unabridged Les Mis, again, but I never seem to get more than a few chapters in. Considering I just bought Spook Country by William Gibson I probably won't get further than that this time either. My dad loaned me a WWII book titled The Day of the Battle that I might skim through but probably won't. I've gotten rather tired of WWII since all my life a bunch of vain, greedy, self centered old fucks have gone on and on about it as if the US hasn't been in a war before it or since. I'm not particularly interested in the life story of people egotistical enough to claim they're the 'greatest generation' while simultaneously shitting in their Depends. Besides, if I wanted to learn about worthless has been drains on society I'd look up what Absolute Destiny is up to now instead of WWII. My dad knows that, but he pushes WWII books on me anyway.

Speaking of books, this is something I read over a year ago but it still amuses me and I don't think I ever mentioned it on the org. One of the very rare times I grabbed (in this case checked out from the library) a book just because of the title:

Ha. Seeing the cover, I finally get the title.

I'm making my way through Gregory Maguire's books. Reading Mirror Mirror now, will start Lost once that's done.

Gardens of the Moon

I'm in for a long read but a friend told me it was a must.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson
