The AMV related Vista vs XP argument

Postby Sukunai » Fri May 09, 2008 10:52 am

Thought I would ask here, as it likely would be best in here, than not.

Is Vista better at the amv creating game, than XP?

For the record, I wouldn't touch Vista with YOUR computer let alone mine.

I actually enjoy earning points with friends by nuking Vista for them off new computers.

Vista works fine the 64bit is what screws people over. Granted it has some stuff that could have been left out, but I don't suffer under it.

I chose xp64 over Vista. Not because Vista would have been a bad choice but I didn't what to re-learn a new OS at this time. For me, xp64 has been rock-solid, recognizes 8gb of ram, and runs all my software seamlessly. The downside is no DX10 but I don't game as much so it was no big deal. I can wait until MS-7 rolls out in a few years before updating to a new OS.

I have no problem with either, so far (my desktop runs XP, my laptop runs Vista). I edit on my desktop, but honestly that has nothing to do with the OS. While I haven't done any extensive performance testing on it, honestly, I'm rather happy with the way my laptop works, Vista and all. Yet to have a single issue in 6 months of using it, save for not being able to run one or two old games.

I ran vista for a few months but eventually went back to xp64. Vista was frustrating because it made many things more difficult to do, and it even completely got rid of some functionality that was present in xp. It also offered no real improvements over xp, in my opinion. So in the end it was a simple choice. Why go to a newer, crippled OS when the older one works better?

I think I'll stick with the first OS I used.
