Question for you all

Postby Tsunami Jones » Sun Mar 30, 2008 6:54 pm

My question is:

How many of you know what Casa Bonita is?

I was talking to FC, who despite being in Canada, knew what it is. I found it to be incredibly bizarre, since it's a local thing.

Beautiful House if my HS spanish class hasn't left me entirely. IIRC it's also a restaurant in a south park episode and maybe one in the real world as well.

Umm.. Like Godix I know its a beautiful house from in Spanish class, and I saw it in South Park, and I know for a fact that it's a real place in Denver (the last one).

Everywhere else in Denver isn't real anymore? :P

But yes, it's a real place that was featured on South Park. It's essentially a rather large, Mexican family restaurant with things like caves and cliff diving (both of which are things that instantly make me think of Mexico :o ) The whole thing is quite fun for children (I haven't been there in at 10+ years so I have no idea how it is for adults).

It's one of those things that is most certainly local, and would under no normal circumstances be known to anyone not in Denver. So, to me, it's rather bizarre that people out of state -- and even out of country -- know about it.

I get taken out of context way too much.

LIke in English class today. I was talking to a friend today in english class...

Friend: So have you heard about Toy Story Three?
Me: Are you kidding me? Can Disney do anything better than beat a dead horse
Friend: Well I thought the second one was awesome.
Me: I guess it was ok, but the cowgirl was awesome.

Guess what part I was stating when the classroom got quiet and what everyone was thinking after my statement?

I digress..

it wasn't really out of context, it was an ambiguous statement caused by poor grammar.

e.g.

"I once shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajams I'll never know" Groucho

"I found a smouldering cigarette left by a horse."

I will bring my bike tomorrow if it looks nice in the morning.

"When two trains approach each other at a crossing, both shall come to a full stop and neither shall
start up again until the other has gone." Kansas State Legislature, early 1890's

We don't just serve hamburgers, we serve people.

"Slow children at play."
