iPod Issues!

Postby CodeZTM » Fri Jan 18, 2008 10:41 am

I didn't think that it pertained to anywhere else, so...

My iPod refuses to charge. It will charge all night on AC power and not get to even half bar. When connected to a computer, it doesn't charge at all.

Any suggestions? I really don't want to buy a new iPod, but I can't live without it.

It's a 30 GB model video classic.

Any help would be appriciated.

Yes: I did buy a new cord, no it did not work.

This may not be an option, but when this happened to me, I took it in and they just gave me a new one.

I'm still within my year in fact for the new one, and it won't be out of applecare until like September of next year.

Bitches said I can't take it to a Korean apple store though if I want a new one again, I'll have to send it to the US. :x

It may possibly be your battery, they have been known to go out on Ipods. If your still under your Applecare warranty, Apple should be able to take care of it. You can buy the battery yourself and replace it yourself but its a little more risky since it is integrated into the device.

It sounds like a battery problem. How long have you had your ipod for? You can try doing as RathiSponge says, but I tried that once and my battery died again within a couple months. (Though...that might just be because I'm totally incompetent. or something...)

Just to be on the safe side though, it might help to find some kind of Apple/iPod help forum and see if others have had the same problem. There are usually technicians lurking around to help solve the issue.

As the french would subtly put: Le Shit!

My warrenty went out exactly 2 weeks ago. I've had it for one year, and they refuse to take it back. The techncial support people on the phone (for once, it was a english-speaking person) told me my battery has gone dead.

I guess I'll be shovling out some cash for a new one.

That's really sad too. I can't live without it. My poor baby.

@Guy07: nothing beats the shit out of iPods. :P
@Everyoneelase: Thanks for the random assitances.

Code,

Before ye give up all hope do some internet surfing for replacement batteries. I have replaced the batteries on my nieces and a friend’s iPod without too much trouble and they work like new. Some of the better suppliers give you the tool and very thorough instructions.

This site has them for around $16.75.

Besides, you might find you're good at fixing electronic devices and presto *career path*

I have these neat wireless headphones. That I can like plug into my iPod. And then I can like strap my iPod to my arm. So like when I go jogging for my workout routine, I don't get tangled.

So basically I can still do everything that your wireless 2gb of crap can do, and MORE. Plus actually be able to maintain a decent sized selection of artists and songs.

Meh, you can fit like 20 CDs, more the i'd listen to in a month. Plus the controls are so easy to use, it's pretty much flawless. Buy them. And no trash talking. :x

I hope there's a decent alternative for when I upgrade from my 5GB Dell DJ. Apple will never see any of my money. I don't listen to that much music anyways, so huge size isn't a big deal.
