Just downloaded a copy of Team Fortress 2 from Steam. When I try to run the program, however, it says that I need DirectX 8.0 to run it, even though my computer is running DirectX 9.0c

Any suggestions? :(

As always, make sure you have the latest release of DirectX.

November 2007 DirectX

What video card? I sure hope it isn't the Geforce 4 MX in your profile. According to min. specs it should run, but I bet even at all low settings it would suck.

D'oh. If you are running on a Geforce 4 MX, then it saying you need DX8 makes sense. You may have DX9 installed, but the Geforce 4 MX series only supports up to DX7. I'd buy a used Radeon X850 AGP on eBay for dirt cheap or pester friends to see if they have any old AGP cards lying around. (Newer than yours of course.)

It sucks if your team can't keep the 2nd last point. Pretty much true of any cp map though, the last point will just own you if you are stuck there too long.

I personally love Gravel Pit.

The only official map I absolutely hate is Hydro. That map is seven kinds of stupid.

I like Hydro :O

With gravel pit, I just can't find anything that I particularly enjoy playing on it. Nothing really grooves with me there.
