dokool invades Tokyo, documents for posterity, sells soul

So, as encouraged by Otohiko, I've decided to start a threads with some of my photos.

As some people may know, I've moved back to Tokyo, Japan, where I plan on studying Japanese for two years. This is as much for my mental/physical state as it is for me to leverage bilingualism into getting a job in the future, but suffice to say I'm back home and loving it.

To document my various adventures, I've started a travelblog at http://www.dokool.com. I also have a Flickr account set up at http://www.flickr.com/photos/dokool/ for those more inclined to that site. I figure whenever I post a new set of photos I'll throw one or two of them here along with a link to the full set.

And of course, for those who might be interested in important certain things (such as cheap R2s, character goods, or whatever else you can come up with), I am more than willing to facilitate, so drop me a line.

On that note, I give you day shots, night shots, Engrish, and subliminal vagina. Enjoy.

How long are you in Tokyo for? And why did you have to bring so much stuff?

Why are you staying in a hotel if you're in Tokyo for 2 years?

And why are you there for 2 years anyway?

I stayed in a hotel for 3 nights until I could sign my lease (and get my stuff couriered) - I'm now in my apartment. My language school starts classes on Tuesday.

Incidentally, of the 5 boxes, one was my laptop (the black one), one was full of winter clothing (which I'll barely need - the lowest it's been since arrival was about 50F), and one was half-full of medical stuff (big sharps containers, a cryo cuff, etc). Everything else was the bulk of my clothing, plus my CD/DVD cases and couple books.

A couple neat ones that I've shown a few people via AIM.

The other night I tried my hand at HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography, which basically consists of taking three photos at different exposure levels and combining them, so you get all of the "highlights" of a photo. See http://www.stuckincustoms.com for some EXTREME examples of this.

Anyway, my first HDR pic, at Hachiko in Shibuya:

I also did this neat alternative versions that has been compared to Serial Experiments Lain (particularly because of how the "people" on the bottom look):
