And if you didn’t have enough trains in previous pictures….
Kirill and me decided to go to a recently opened railroad museum!
Most of it is rather self-explanatory
The museum has quite a thorough collection of steam engines

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

An old cistern
Cistern and huge rail gun (not to be confused with ‘railgun’)
The phallic structure in the background may need some explanation
That over there is the museum’s most prized exhibit – one of Russia’s most terrifying weapons for quite a while.
It’s one of the so-called ‘death trains’, a perfectly normal-looking freight train which contains a fully autonomous ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile launcher), each capable of wiping out several cities anywhere in the world.
The ‘death trains’ were declassified and pulled out of service in 2001, probably much to the Americans relief – tracking them was an impossibility among thousands of similar-looking cars on tens of thousands of kilometers of Russia’s railroads, making them one of the world’s stealthiest weapons platforms.

An Austrian-built diesel locomotive
Telegraph pole and ICBM
That’s not porn! That’s 30 years of communism!

One last picture of the Death Train itself, and we’re off to another day!
Another day; buildings at the Smolenka. These always gave me the impression of being unstable
Bus stop on Korablestraitelei Street
Behind there – Oto’s final apartment building in Russia where he lived around 1995-1998
Korablestroitelei Street, wide as hell
Buildings. The one closer is my building; the prominent one further back is mainly a student dormitory.

The funky window bars are on Oto’s ex-apartment. They were that way when we bought it.
Directly outside those windows -
“I LOVE YOU!”
If that was intended for me, you’re a few years late
Cigarettes and crap in puddle
Along my usual path home

The inner side. If you can see the window with the funky bars – that was my bedroom!
(my bed was right next to that window, too)
The round-ish things supposedly prevent people from parking. They weren’t there when I lived here and people parked right outside the window.
Courtyard
For some reason the image I have in my head when I see this is me hopping across that yard with my leg in a cast (if you remember that earlier story about me breaking it)
Further down in the yard
That service building had a not-too-hard to reach ladder and we used to climb on the roof of it a lot.
Garages. The official young Oto hangout!
If you’re wondering – yes, we used to spend a lot of time on their roofs just chilling or playing various games. Oh the memories!

Puddles
Same block.
My friend Sergei lives in the one with the huge arch
Parking and new construction.
My school is just behind the new building; used to be visible.

The garages again
Ambulance. Gulf of Finland far in the background
The big dorm building
My friend Sergei’s building.
I was talking to him on the cellphone while taking this picture of his windows, hehe.
View from Sergei’s building towards Kirill’s building

An alley – interestingly, between two kindergartens.
I wonder why they have two kindergartens in the same block.
Kirill’s elevator
View from Kirill’s windows
Picked him up and we went off to our old school…
Schoolyard
Aw bummer!
The bastards change the number of the school!
Boo. It used to be School #33 when we went there, clearly a much cooler number
(the reason the number was changed is because it was amalgamated with another school nearby. The reason that had to be so might not be too hard to guess – with Russia’s birth rates dropping catastrophically in the 1990’s, there’s simply not enough students to keep many schools open)
