Supporting Non-AMV Editors
This has been on my mind for quite some time now. I seldom edit to anime, but have found more inspiration outside of it. I'm not the only editor either. There are thousands of non-AMV editors as well as many AMV editors who also edit outside of anime sources.
Over the last couple years I've tried reaching out to other editing communities and supported contests at anime cons that allow non-anime videos. However it seems to me that support for non-AMVs is waning. What communities I was a part of are dead on their feet. Contests that support non-AMVs are few and far between. When Vidders.net first launched I was hopeful, but now they are struggling like other editing communities due to the lack of user activity and support.
Have I missed a site or a means to connect with other non-amv editors?

My friend, have you tried the CreaCon? You can check creaspace(dot)ru since it holds the stuff you're looking for

I have not. I only thought it was a Russian contest and nothing more this whole time.

Re: Supporting Non-AMV Editors
For me most of the non-amv vids I see come from the listings from creacon, what gets posted here, and then by youtube browsing (and I guess the occasional non-anime vid that gets sent to Youma and AWA) but to me it's always seemed sparse. I'd often wondered if I could get enough support for a complete non-anime competition for Youma's other event, Midwest Media Expo, but I'm not sure where I'd put the word out for that if we did get one off the ground.
I love me some non-anime vids. some of my favorite blocks and vids over the last few years have been non-anime so yeah...

Re: Supporting Non-AMV Editors
People definitely agree on Creaspace as the site to turn to. I actually registered with the site after TritioAFB and Shui posted about it on here, and I have been slowly uploading my videos to it since. I'll be more active with the community once I get settled in. Hopefully the language barrier won't be too much of a problem.
Nate, you know I would support that in a heartbeat.ngsilver wrote:I'd often wondered if I could get enough support for a complete non-anime competition for Youma's other event, Midwest Media Expo, but I'm not sure where I'd put the word out for that if we did get one off the ground.

Re: Supporting Non-AMV Editors
You know that is an interesting idea. I've seen some conventions that do the non-AMV contests, and I really do like what I see with some of them. I really wish there were more conventions that would hold a second contest for videos like these. I think I'll ask another con I work with if they would be interested in doing something like this, no promises. The reason I say that is because of prize support.

Re: Supporting Non-AMV Editors
As someone who just doesn't edit with anime, but cartoon shows, webcomics and various films including Disney, I with there were more options as well.
