Interesting thoughts and ideas
Well at work I was thinking about various ideas and I had one for a business.
What do you all think of the opening of an "Adult" Bookstore?
By this I do not mean the type you buy porn at. Merely a bookstore like Borders or Barnes & Noble, BUT you cannot enter unless you are 18+
There would be a lounge with wait staff that you can order finger sandwiches and drinks and relax, reading your book without noisy kids ruining the atmosphere.

Re: Interesting thoughts and ideas
The under 18 age group might not be a protected class, but you might still have some legal concerns depending on local ordinances. The larger concern is the whole death of the print industry thing, which might not be an issue if you have a high population area to pull potential customers from.

Re: Interesting thoughts and ideas
You could always change it to 21+ by having said lounge sell alcoholic drinks. I know many establishments that don't allow anyone under 21 to enter because they sell liquor.

Re: Interesting thoughts and ideas
all you have to do is make it a bar that also sells books instead of the other way around, then you can say 18+ and i'm pretty sure nobody can do anything about it.

Re: Interesting thoughts and ideas
Someone take this idea because I want someone to do it:
A Cereal Bar. Gourmet style.
People like cereal. Of all varieties.
And depending on my mood, I'll browse my own collection of Cheerios, Shreddies, and Frosted Flakes... but sometimes it's hard to find exactly the cereal I want. And there's so many that I couldn't possibly own them all myself. But if I had a Cereal Bar near by, I could just swing down and order up a quick bowl of Cap'n Crunch, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, or Lucky Charms. Maybe I might want to try something really fancy like the ones above, but it would be impossible to find... unless Cereal Bar became a thing. Someone make Cereal Bar a thing.

Re: Interesting thoughts and ideas
I haven't had cereal in... Years? A decade?
I'm allergic to milk, and though I do eat ice cream and cheese, I rarely ever drink actual milk. So cereal was not really my thing.
